A Study of Risky Behaviors among Academic Communities during the SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic

The global pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus resulted in many recommendations and restrictions to protect human life and health from the effects of contracting this pathogen. These recommendations and restrictions have caused changes in social functioning due to the implementation of the Distance-Disinfection-Mask rule. Observance of this principle by society is related to the tendency to either pro-healthy behavior – safe or risky behavior – dangerous. Since the subject of behaviors during the SARS-COV-2 pandemic is a new issue, a study of risky behaviors during the pandemic was conducted. The article presents the results of a questionnaire on risky behaviors among an academic community during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. The aim of the study was to identify risky behaviors in one of the departments of a technical university located in southern Poland. The results showed that this community is prone to risky behaviors in terms of non-adherence to the obligation to cover the nose and mouth, the use of hygiene rules like disinfection of hands, telephones, and surfaces in thir house and/or car.
