Proposal of Enclosing Risk Culture to Risk Management Implementation for Project Success in Shipyard Industry in Batam Island Indonesia

Abstract

There are 5 large shipyard industry companies in Batam with has many activities and work carried out by humans that have the risk of accidents and the risk of failure in the shipbuilding process at the shipyard, starting from designing, cutting, welding, installing, painting and lifting activities and others. Good risk management is the main requirement for the success of the shipyard project. Risk culture and risk management need to be thoroughly studied to increase the success of the shipyard industry. The main interest of this paper is to enclose risk culture in the risk management implementation phase in the shipyard industry. This paper is provided base on literature research and experiences in risk management and learned from the practical team in the industry which matched by an application in project shipyard Batam Island. An implementation phase for risk management to enclose the risk culture in the shipyard project was reviewed and added value to the project team to the organization. The risk culture is required full support from top management to implementation in all employee and parties to succeed in the industry shipyard.
