Abstract

Mindful management of an organization requires anticipating potential difficulties and risks that may arise and affect the condition of an organization (private or public). Thus, in mature organizations, reliable identification of internal and external factors that can affect their operations is conducted, and optional scenarios are prepared in case of specific risks. Risk management is a continuous and flexible process that should be conducted in any organisation. This article aims to evaluate actions taken by cruise shipping companies in the field of risk management. The following research questions have been raised: What kind of risks are identified by cruise shipping companies (CSC)? What kind of strategic documents are developed by CSC as pert of risk management in their operations? What was the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the process of risk management in CSC? The conducted analysis of literature revealed some gap in the scientific analyses regarding this issue. In this research several methods were applied, i.e.: literature review, data exploration method, desk research and comparative analysis. The research results may constitute, in general, an interesting source of information for entrepreneurs, and in particular, for those involved in handling the market of cruise ship tourism services, on the development of risk management process and on risk elements that require special attention.
